One of my favorite things about Alaska – the sky. A while back I wrote a post about the gorgeous skies of Bristol Bay. There are truly some phenomenal sights out in that region. That said, Southeast Alaska is also privy to some pretty spectacular views.
In the winter particularly, when the sun is rising over the snow-capped mountain tops, the seas sparkle below, and the land glistens all around- those sights make for some of the best scenery in the world.
What makes it even better is you never know what you’re going to get. Alaskan winters are incredibly unpredictable. In a single week our weather pattern can change from below zero temps, to 40 and sun, to sleet and snow, and then start all over again.
But when the sun comes out after a day of snow and everything is sparkling and clean – that is one of my favorite things ever.
People say Alaska living is not for the faint of heart. While this is true, I believe the beauty that surrounds us daily also FILLS our hearts and provides an immense amount of gratitude. <3
