Marathon training officially kicked off this week!
As most of you know – I am training for Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN this coming June. I am so excited to check this goal off my list and experience the excitement that is the marathon. I am starting slow as my running has been sporadic at best lately. Following the ever popular Hal Higdon Training Program, week 1 started with three, 3-mile runs during the week and a 6-mile long run on Saturday.
While week 1 included some struggles (I think that’s typical when you are adjusting to a training program… right?), overall I’d say it was a great first week. Aside from some slight pain in my right knee, my body felt good and seems to be adjusting well to training mode.
In addition to running, we also had some fun this weekend exploring the Haines “ice caves.” It was really a waterfall that froze, but Piper referred to them as ice caves and who am I to correct her?! Especially with how excited she was. 😉
In other news – anyone else watching the Olympics?! We just watched the ice dancing competition and OMG CANADA! Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue literally have me in tears. AMAZING. Also Mirai Nagasu (U.S.). SO GOOD! I love the Olympics.
And some pictures from my run/ our hike this weekend… Alaska is pretty.
